Shadow Side

Experimental

Beach is a tiny desert with barely any shadow. Only the ones that belong to you or to coastal trees and cliffs. Peter Pan rubbed his soft soles with a bar of soap to stick his naughty shadow to his feet. The shadow ran free and wild. Wendy had to stitch it with a needle. My shadow is not a rebel, but unfortunately so. I would love to leave it here, on the beach, while I’m somewhere else. My shadow could experience all those coastal stories, I miss. I still haven’t been here in the autumn or winter night. Only in summer, but the darkness is not pitch black then, the horizon glows in pastel pink and everything is quite visible. I asked once to take me to the sea in a big storm, the wind was so strong, it was difficult to open the car doors. Sea is such a charismatic companion, I’m never bored. Even when the sea smokes clouds in silence. Even when it seems it is asleep. Also the time here feels different. But sooner or later it’s time to go home. I wish I could unstitch my soles and ask my shadow afterwards – how was it? That would be a beautiful experiment.

Pludmale ir tuksnesītis, kurā ēnu īsti nav. Tikai tā, ko met pats vai kādā brīdī piekrastes koki, citviet klintis. Pīters Pens mīkstās kurpju zoles norīvēja ar ziepju gabalu, lai noturētu savu delverīgo ēnu pie kājām. Ēna nemitīgi aizlaidās un darīja, kā grib. Vendija ar adatu piešuva. Mana ēna tā nedara, bet nebūtu slikti. Pamest to smiltīs, lai paliek, kamēr neesmu. Ēna varētu piedzīvot tos krastmalas stāstus, kuri man iet secen.
